About Us
Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is a magical experience. It's easy to understand if you try this simple exercise:
Think back when you were younger. Other than your parents, who touched your life in some simple but special way? Who was that person you always remember with a smile?
Maybe it was your aunt who taught you her "secret recipe", or your next door neighbor who let you help him fix his car. Or maybe it was someone who took you to a ball game, or taught you how to play "chopsticks", or showed you how to catch fireflies in a jar. And maybe it was someone who just included you in an everyday activity because it was fun — for you both.
Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is about sharing simple, magical moments like these with a child. Each of us had a special person who opened doors and widened our horizons on the world. By being a Big, you can do the same for a child, and you will both be forever changed by the experience.
Getting started is easy too! Simply let us know you're interested by completing our online application. We'll answer your questions, and get your enrollment started quickly.
It's fun and rewarding
What is universal to being a Big Brother or Big Sister is that most Bigs start out thinking they'll give something back, yet most end up saying "I get back so much more than I give". As a Big, you are simply a friend. We ensure that your friendship fits your lifestyle, and we have something for everyone. Busy people of all ages can get involved, and you can choose the program that works best for you.
Steps to Becoming a Big
To become a Big, first you complete a registration. Then, you meet with an agency representative so we can get to know you and make a match that's right for you. Once you are matched with your Little, you get together on a regular basis. Your friendship is supported by an agency staffer who answers questions, provides assistance, and keeps you informed about agency happenings and special events.
